Sept. 9: Inclement Weather Update

Updated: Sept. 9, 2024 | 8 p.m.

Good
evening CNUSD families,

As you are likely aware, there are several wildfires affecting the air quality in our region. Our Safety & Security Team and District Emergency Operations team are continuing to monitor the air quality conditions across our District as well as any anticipated impacts from the surrounding fires.

SCHOOL CLOSURES DUE TO AIRPORT FIRE

Out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing the following schools tomorrow, Sept. 10, 2024 due to the proximity of the Airport Fire. After-school programs at these sites will also be cancelled.

  •  Wilson Elementary
  •  Temescal Valley Elementary
  •  Todd Elementary

At this time, Air Quality Index levels across our District indicate we can keep all other schools open with the following Inclement Weather Protocols:

  •  All students will be kept indoors for the entire day except for passing periods
  •  All outdoor activities and outdoor athletics will be cancelled

STUDENTS WITH SENSITIVE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

If your student has sensitive health requirements and you feel the need to keep them home, we encourage you to do what you feel is best. Missed school for medical reasons will be marked as an excused absence.

EXPANDED LEARNING AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

Our Expanded Learning Afterschool Program will be in session. However, due to the high probability of rolling blackouts in our area during the afternoon/evening hours, we highly encourage families to pick up their students as soon as possible after school

Our Safety & Security Department will continue to be in close communication with our public safety partners and should any conditions change, we will continue to keep parents informed.

Thank you for your understanding,

Sincerely,

Corona Norco Unified School District
