Good evening CNUSD community,
We continue to monitor air quality in our area. At this time CNUSD is registering moderate air quality, as measured by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). In addition, we have consulted with CalFIRE leadership, Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) and Riverside University Health System, (our county’s health department) and our District is clear to move forward to a modified inclement weather schedule tomorrow, Sept.12 for all schools except for our three closed schools (Todd, Temescal Valley and Wilson Elementary Schools who are closed due to fire proximity and evacuation warnings)
WHAT DOES MODIFIED INCLEMENT WEATHER MEAN?
Students may participate in low impact outdoor activities or will have the option to remain indoors for recess and lunch. Athletic events will resume and be monitored using wet bulb regulations as required by CIF.
STUDENTS WITH SENSITIVE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
If your student has sensitive health requirements and you feel the need to keep them home, we encourage you to do what you feel is best. Missed school for medical reasons will be marked as an excused absence.
FAMILIES IN THE EVACUATION WARNING ZONES
We understand there are families in our District who may live in Evacuation Warning Zones whose schools may still be open. If you feel the need to keep your students home from school, we encourage you to do so, your family's safety comes first. Their absence will be excused, please work with your site administrator for make up work.
We are thankful for your continued support and cooperation this week and extend our support to neighboring districts as our region deals with the impacts of these devastating wildfires. We also want to share appreciation for the firefighters and other first responders who are working hard to protect our communities.
We are in regular communication with our public safety partners and will continue to provide accurate and timely information via text message, email, social media, and our website. Thank you
Corona Norco Unified School District
