Construction is set to begin on a new building for our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) Building at Auburndale Intermediate later this month.
Construction is set to begin on March 24, 2025 with a goal of project completion in August 2026. We are thrilled to bring a dedicated space for our ELOP program including three dedicated classrooms with the flexibility to open into a larger space for staff trainings. The project will also include storage space and a dedicated external area for outdoor learning.
TEMPORARY SITE IMPACTS TO AUBURNDALE INTERMEDIATE & WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY
As part of the construction process, there will be a temporary closure of the pathway connecting Washington Elementary and Auburndale Intermediate. This closure will take place during spring break, in order to avoid impacts to students.
The temporary shutdown is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new temporary pedestrian pathway, ensuring safe passage for students and staff throughout the duration of the project.
The construction of the ELOP building is expected to last approximately 16 months. Once completed, the permanent pathway between the two schools will be reestablished, enhancing accessibility and connectivity within the campus.
School administrators are working closely with construction teams to minimize disruptions and ensure that students, staff, and families are well-informed about any necessary detours or safety measures.
